The London Underground


The London Underground  is a public transportation electric railway that operates both above and below ground throughout the Greater London area. Is the transport system of this type world's oldest. Became operational on January 10, 1863 and its older sections have completed 150 years into operation in 2013.
Londoners often refer to him as "the Tube" because of the shape of their tunnels.
Today there are 274 stations open and more than 408 kilometers of active lines, with more than three million passengers use the metro daily. It is the second metro system in the world (after Shanghai) for miles and the first of the European Union.
Since 2003, the underground part of the organization Transport for London (TfL), which also manages London's buses, including the famous red double-decker buses. Previously London Regional Transport was the company that owns the London Underground.

England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. The área now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but it takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in AD 927, and since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century, has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world. The English language, the Anglican Church, and English law—the basis for the common law legal systems of many other countries around the world—developed in England, and the country's parliamentary system of government has been widely adopted by other nations. The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation. England's Royal Society laid the foundations of modern experimental science.

English Demography

With over 51 million inhabitants according to the census (Statistics) 2001, England is the most populous constituent country of the United Kingdom, accounting for 84% of the total population. These figures become to England in the 25th most populous country in the world, if it were a sovereign state, as well as the fourth largest by population in the European Union. In turn, with a density of 395 people per square kilometer is the second most densely populated state of the European Union after Malta.

Languages

As its name suggests, the English language spoken by millions of people around the world, originated as the language of England, where it remains the predominant language spoken in the world.


Religion

After Anglicanism (with 55% of the population), the Catholic Church is the religion with the highest number of faithful, assuming they (along with Wales) 4.2 million people, approximately 7.8% of the English population and galesa.17

System of education
